MICHELE'S ITP JOURNEY

Michele Adler

May Michele Adler’s memory be a blessing

In memory of Michele Adler, we are starting a fundraiser walk this coming November 8th, 2020, Michele’s birthday. The walk will be virtual this year.

We would like to raise awareness and funds for PDSA (Platelet Disorder Support Association) an underserved charity that helps with the fight for ITP and will help spread awareness and find a cure for this rare but very serious blood disorder.

About 21 years ago Michele woke up one morning, feeling fine ,went downstairs to play with her 6 year old son Matthew . Matthew pointed to her arms and legs and asked “Mommy what’s wrong?!” She was completely covered in deep black and blue marks all over. She rushed herself to the doctor where she was eventually diagnosed with ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia), a disorder that lowers your blood platelet count. Michele’s case was very serious.

There were lots of ups and downs these past 21 years that Michele and her family went through, but the bottom line was Michele with her positive attitude and her amazing team of Doctors was managing this. Michele was a fighter and even volunteered at blood banks to help them collect platelets.

I met Michele when we were 15 years old. We instantly became friends. I take full credit for her and her husband Seth getting back together in college. They eventually got married and had 3 awesome children together. I had renamed her family “The Awesome Adlers” years ago and that’s the name I refer to them by. Michele was one of the funniest people I ever met. She had the ability to make you laugh till you cried and boy did we laugh every day, every phone call, many times a day. Michele was like a sister to me.

This past March Michele was in the hospital managing her platelets and other complications, (something she had to do often having ITP). She was released to go home only to come back and learn that both she and Seth were diagnosed with Covid-19 that she caught while in the hospital. Having a compromised immune system, unfortunately this was one fight she could not win. We lost Michele this past April 21, 2020.

Michele was blessed with so much ...Beautiful (inside and out ), awesome family, lots of good friends, but unfortunately she was not blessed with good health.

Please help us keep Michele “Awesome” Adler’s memory alive by clicking the link below and donating so that one day a cure can be found for ITP. Even a small donation will add up.
