Team Haley - Heroes of Hope
Haley and her family are good friends and neighbours of ours. We met 18 years ago, Haley was under two as was our daughter, Megan. Haley, Megan and Ryan (our son) played on our street together from a young age, then attended elementary school and high school together. Haley, Megan and Ryan met each morning and off to school they would go, right up to grade 12. Even Bosco (our dog) knew the time Haley would be coming down the street in the morning (they are BFF's - Haley and Bosco :-). I remember 3 years ago, when there was a change to our morning routine and Haley would not be coming over that day or the next or the next. Haley was diagnosed with ITP at the age of 16. Haley, the avid sports enthusiast and athlete was enduring constant bruising, nose bleeds, gum bleeds, bleeding from the scalp and her "gut", along with other symptoms. Despite this, Haley pushed through and a treatment was found that she has been responding well to. Her family supported her through and became well educated on ITP and continues to do so. Haley is doing well thanks to daily treatment, attending university and continuing to live an active, healthy lifestyle to the degree in which she is able.
We are walking for Haley and in support of others living with ITP and in memory of those who were taken far too soon due to ITP. We are Hoping for a Cure, Praying for Strength, and Fighting for a better tomorrow for those living with ITP.
Thank you!
