Welcome to Mira's Page - Raising Awareness for ITP
IMMUNE THROMBOCYTOPENIA (ITP)
Tough to pronounce, more challenging to live with.
Thank you for coming to my personal page!
I was diagnosed 7 years ago and have been admitted to the ER three times being as low as 800 platelets (I've met others that have been lower or even zero). Praying one day there will be a cure for ITP, but so thankful that there are treatments for it! It's been said that ITP is a "roller coaster" of an auto immune illness. It's been a ride for sure dealing at times with dangerously low platelet drop, dealing with the side effects of the medications and treatments/tranfusions that you use. PDSA website and the local chapter provides not just information to help you learn about your options and the latest treatments, but introduces you to others that are in the "same boat". It's been helpful to talk to others that truly understand what you are experiencing. It's been helpful to meet and talk to those newly diagnosed or to learn from others that have been on this ride for longer then you. You learn it's not a cookie cutter illness, some people have different variations or respond differently to the treatments. I've learned so much about other ways to treat this besides conventional medicine. I'm praying that I will have a longer and longer remission. I have to say I am so blessed to be backed by the most spectacular family & friends! Also great doctors, wellness personnel, our wonderful parish and diocese we attend and so many more!
I have ITP, but it does not have me!!!
Please support by joining the team or donating to finding a cure!
Thank you!
