Welcome to Gen's Fundraising Page!
Hey Everyone! Thank you for visiting my page! PDSA is such an important part of my life, and so many others who are living with a platelet disorder. This organization is my lifeline! They have the top ITP specialists on a medical board and are available to connect to anyone in the world. Once my Mom found PDSA, I finally met others who like me were fighting a tough battle with ITP. This organization has helped me to become educated, learn to be my own advocate, make life long friendships and so much more! It is extremely close to my heart and it would mean so much to me if you would consider donating to the PDSA through my donation link!
I was first diagnosed with ITP after turning 25- yes the same month as my bday, I was rushed to the hospital after a blood draw was done with my Doctors office. The Doctor called me and advised me to call 911 because my platelet count was 2,000 and at that time I really had no idea what that meant other than what he was telling me, and I could hear the tone in his voice that he was terrified. It took a couple of weeks and many many tests, but my team of Doctors were able to diagnose me with ITP. Immune Thrombocytopenia.... the longer the name the more trouble it seems to be right!? I had lost all hope and was so incredibly terrified but then my Mom found a website- PDSA- Platelet Disorder Support Association.... and we started to read and find more support and even had a chance to meet up with others in Chicago. That event was seriously life changing for me. Although I have chronic refractory ITP which means I have tried many treatments and they have failed, I still have hope and get strength from my ITP warrior friends!
I appreciate all of the love and support my family and friends send my way, it gives me fuel to push on!
There is no cure for ITP. Although more is known about the disease each year and new treatments have recently become available, there are many unanswered questions. The Platelet Disorder Support Association has established a research fund to support initiatives that lead to better outcomes for the people we serve.
